Time to roll up our sleeves to get results

Tony Mowbray knows there'll be times this season where the team will need to grind out results.

Rovers are the bookmakers favourites for an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship, but the boss has stressed to his players that they have to be ready to roll up their sleeves.

Mowbray has experienced life in League One before having managed Coventry City, so knows that in this division it is all about finding the best way to win a football match on any given day.

"I think the players will have to come to terms very quickly of what type of football they are going to be playing," said the manager.

"Teams don't sit off you and let you play, they will get about you and push in behind the ball. They'll play forward very early, and get lots of men around the breakdown.

"So don't expect to play lovely beautiful football in the first 20 minutes of any of these games really. Teams won't sit off and respect you and wait for you to pass off the pitch.

"Football is about finding a way to win. Some games we'll play lovely football and win, and on other days we have to find a different way to win.

"That is why you have different types of players. Fast ones, strong ones, tall ones. My job is to put a team on the pitch that on any given day can get the points."
