Tony Mowbray is anticipating a close-run encounter when Milton Keynes Dons come to Ewood this Saturday.
All three of the Dons league matches so far this season have ended 1-0, and like Rovers, they collected their first win of the campaign last time out with a home victory over Gillingham.
Rovers of course go into the game looking to build on their win away over Bradford City seven days ago, and hope to follow it up with a welcome three points on home soil.
"It is easier said than done but that is what you hope to do of course," said Mowbray.
"Every game stands on it's own two feet, we have to be really competitive and focused and have a great desire about trying to get a win.
"The next game is MK Dons who will come and make life really difficult for us I'm sure.
"If you look at their results they are all very tight games so far for them. Take out the cup defeat where they made seven or eight changes midweek, but in the league they have all been very tight games.
"I think part of that is the intensity at the start of the season for most teams in the league. The season tends to soften off a little bit as the weeks roll by. Teams get into their level of performance. We have to make sure that our level stays really high and that we do manage to win some back-to-back games and keep going and put an unbeaten run together.
"It's not easy as the games come along, there are some very tough away games. Bradford was a very tough away game, they hadn't lost in 30-odd games at home, but we've shown we can go anywhere in this league now, so we shouldn't fear anybody else and know that we can give them a tough game and hopefully get victories."
