Elliott Ward insists Rovers have to build on Friday's clean sheet victory over Nottingham Forest when they take on Bristol City this Monday at Ewood.
The defender returned to the starting line-up for the first time since the opening day of the season, and alongside youngster Ryan Nyambe and match-winner Tommie Hoban in a change of shape in defence, he put in a commanding display to keep the opposition at bay.
Ward felt that having that clean sheet mentality was huge and knows that they have to look to keep as many as possible between now and the end of the campaign if they are to achieve their goal of Championship security.
"The clean sheet is massive, we haven't had enough of them this season," the defender told Rovers PlayerHD.
"We are going into big games where we need them and I feel that if we have that then we are capable of winning the games.
"Forest was a good three points for us and a starting point in the five games that we need to do well in."
The experienced defender was delighted with the backing that the side got in the win at the City Ground and hopes for more of the same in the remaining four games of the campaign.
"The fans were brilliant," he added. "We are going to need them in the next four games.
"They were great today and to get the goal in front of them was probably the perfect ending."
