Elliott Ward hopes to be able to play his part with the first team between now on the end of the season.

Having been out of action since picking up an ankle ligament injury on the opening day of the campaign, the experienced defender has returned to the senior squad this past month, and has been included in the matchday 18 on a couple of occasions.

And after getting an hour under his belt in the development squad's 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday night, the central defender hopes he impressed in the match, and has done enough training to catch the manager's eye.

"I've worked hard to get back and I've been fit ever since the manager has been here so it is just a waiting game really," said Ward.

"Like anyone who isn't in the team, you want to play, and it is games like this and in training sessions that you want to impress. You just need to do your job and hopefully you get the call.

"The games are big, probably bigger for the other teams with the pressure being on them to push away from us. So we'll see what happens.

"The lads have to be confident going into these games knowing what we have to do. There is only one thing that we need to do and that is to win the games.

"They are big, but we've got to enjoy the pressure and the pressure that people put on us, it is a game of football that we need to win, it is that simple really."

Tickets for Friday's match at Nottingham are currently on open sale priced at £24 for Adults, £17 for Seniors, £12 for Under-18s and £6 for Under-12s.
