Skipper Jason Lowe and centre half Elliott Ward were welcomed as Euxton CE Primary School's guests of honour to cut the ribbon on a new all-weather playground extension.
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust arranged for the new astroturf facility to be unveiled by the Rovers pair as a replacement for an area of grass that was prone to waterlogging, meaning that it was regularly out-of-bounds for pupils at break times.
Those worries are now a thing of the past, with the partially covered space that Lowe and Ward opened now proving to be the go-to place for children to enjoy their play time between lessons.
The visit also included a penalty competition on the playground involving the two Rovers players and year six pupils, with Ward proving to be a very capable goalkeeper during the contest!
"It has been a great afternoon," admitted skipper Lowe. "The school has worked very hard in raising the money to do this and credit to them for that they've been able to do with this area. I'm sure they'll benefit from it."
Becky Edge, treasurer of the school's PTFA, added: "We're so appreciative to the club for coming down and doing this. It will get us a lot of publicity and the kids have really enjoyed themselves."
