Rovers earned another point on their travels but it was a missed opportunity for them at Molineux.

Against a distinctly lacklustre home side, Rovers were comfortable throughout, but they couldn't make the most of the few changes that came their way.

The first half saw Craig Conway fire wide, whilst Darragh Lenihan planted a header just the wrong side of the upright.

The second half continued in a similar vein, Elliott Bennett with a near-post free-kick that was kept out by Andy Lonergan.

Rovers pressed until the end but despite threatening with late corner kicks, they weren't able to get that clear-cut chance to clinch all three points.

On any other day a draw would have been welcome, but with results elsewhere going against them, it leaves Rovers with plenty to do in the remaining two matches.

Tony Mowbray opted to make four changes to the side that drew with Bristol City last Monday.

Making a welcome return to the side were Charlie Mulgrew and Darragh Lenihan after both recovered quickly from ankle injuries. Whilst Danny Guthrie and Craig Conway were also back in the starting eleven as Tommie Hoban, Liam Feeney, and Hope Akpan all dropped to the bench. Connor Mahoney missing out with a thigh strain.

That meant a back three again for Rovers as Mulgrew and Lenihan were either side of Elliott Ward. With Elliott Bennett and Craig Conway supporting Sam Gallagher up front. A formation that restricted the hosts to very little in front of goal in a first half light on chances.

Of the notable ones, the majority went Rovers' way. On nine minutes a cross from Jason Lowe set up Gallagher for a first-time shot. The young striker had scored a sensational volley against the same opponents in the corresponding fixture back in October, but on this occasion he missed his opportunity. Conway took aim himself on the follow-up but the Scot's shot went just wide.

Conway then turned provider with a free-kick soon afterwards. His ball in from the left picking out the fast arriving Lenihan, but whilst his header beat Andy Lonergan in the Wolves goal, the ball flashed just the wrong side of the upright.

The hosts were forced into an early change on 21 minutes as Ivan Cavaleiro replaced the injured Matt Doherty, and it was after a foul on the Portuguese attacker that Wolves would fashion their best chance of the opening half. Former Rover Ben Marshall with the free-kick into the area, Romain Saiss high with his header.

Rovers and Gallagher saw appeals for a penalty waved away as the half drew to a close. The striker appeared to be hauled to the ground when attempting to get on the end of a ball over the top from Guthrie, but the officials weren't interested.

After rarely troubling the Rovers defence in the first half, Wolves made their second change at the start of the second as Jon Dadi Bodvarsson replaced fellow forward Nouha Dicko.

However it was Rovers with another shout for a penalty, but Lenihan was booked for diving after going down easily when Mulgrew's corner caused mayhem.

Willing runner Ryan Nyambe sent Bennett on the overlap, but his cross was a touch too high for Gallagher.

Whilst Bennett forced a near-post save from Lonergan after his free-kick deflected off the wall.

Danny Graham, Lucas Joao and Marvin Emnes were all introduced in the closing stages as Rovers went for that elusive goal.

Nyambe, who was a great outlet on the right throughout, teed up Joao in the area, but the forward couldn't get the ball under control to allow him to have a shooting chance.

For the home side, they offered very little in front of goal throughout. Rovers defending their area with ease.

Their only shot on target coming in the final minute of added time when Cavaleiro tricked his way into the box, but his shot was straight into the arms of David Raya.
