Tony Mowbray has admitted he reiterated the need for the squad to stick together in the post-match huddle against Nottingham Forest on Friday.
Following Rovers' 1-0 win at the City Ground, the manager got the entire playing squad and coaching staff together on the pitch after the final whilst before they all went and applauded the travelling the support.
"I didn't say anything too Churchillian I don't think," the boss told Rovers PlayerHD.
"It was just about sticking together, the messages that I've been giving them this week. The message of how important it is for the football club and their careers.
"That is what it takes, to go the inch more than your maximum to find extra and they did that.
"We anticipated that Forest might change their formation at half-time and we adapted it. Bennett played deeper and we rotated around a little bit. We saw it out and it is good when things work out the way your planned.
"Last week we had a fantastic plan to win that football match and it went out of the window after six minutes. Today we have managed to see it out and get the three points. We'll put them in the bag and move onto Monday."
