Tony Mowbray has been pleased with displays from David Raya since returning to the starting line-up.
An ankle injury sustained by regular number one Jason Steele during the home game against Barnsley before Easter meant a return to action for the young Spaniard for the first time since featuring in the FA Cup win over Queens Park Rangers in January.
The Rovers boss has liked what he has seen from the 21-year-old and felt that has acquitted himself well in the games against Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.
"He has done very, very well," Mowbray told Rovers PlayerHD.
"I do like his alertness, his speed of movement and thought, his distribution is quick.
"It always helps when your goalie makes saves. I've always been a coach that every goalie makes saves, but it isn't necessarily about saving shots that makes you a good goalkeeper, it is your distribution, it is your ability to come for crosses and take pressure off the defence, it is your communication skills, it is different things really.
"He's done well, he looks alert, he looks bright, and we'll see if he continues. We'll have to wait and see what Jason Steele's situation is and we'll make them decisions when we have to."
Raya and Rovers are back in action this weekend when they travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Fans wishing to see this Saturday's match will need to get their tickets in advance as there will be no sales on the day.
