New signing Wes Brown is looking forward to continuing his association with Rovers’ promising young players.
The former Manchester United defender helped Rovers’ Under-23s record three successive clean sheets in the Premier League 2, as he was given game time for Damien Johnson’s side in order to build up his fitness after suffering a calf strain at the start of pre-season.
And, as part of the one-year playing contract he has signed at Ewood Park, Brown will remain involved with the development squad in a coaching capacity.
“I didn’t mind playing for the younger boys – although I hated taking their spots!” he said.
“But it was probably needed to get the game fitness in there and I think I’ve had three or four games now and I’m happy with that and I’m ready for selection on Saturday.
“The gaffer was big on me doing the coaching side as well and that’s what I want to do, so in that sense it’s brilliant.
“I know Damien and Dunny, and I’ve obviously played for them as well, so it’s great that I’ve got that opportunity as well to keep that going.”
