We have to be at our best

Owen Coyle knows Rovers are more than capable of claiming another positive result this evening against Sheffield Wednesday, however they will have to perform at the top of their game.

Rovers go into tonight's Ewood Park clash in good heart following wins over Rotherham United and Derby County, but come up against a Wednesday side that just missed out on promotion via the play-offs last season.

The manager is wary of the threat that the Owls carry, but insists that if his side continue to put in the sort of performances seen in their last two league outings, then they have every chance of claiming the points.

"We certainly know that they've got good players and a good team," said Coyle.

"Sheffield Wednesday have invested heavily in their squad, but I have to say that the match is about us. If we are at our very best then that is a game that we can go and win.

"So we will be wary of the threat they've got, but equally we have shown that we can be a decent team, a team that can win games playing in a manner that people enjoy.

"To do that we have got to be at our best from the first whistle, be hard working and organised and look to play our football when we can."

Whilst the back-to-back victories has been a welcome boost, the manager knows there is still plenty of work to be done. Especially with the side yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

"We accept that we are still searching for that clean sheet so we know there is still a lot of work to be done in respect of the whole team," he added.

"But I've said from the outset that we will try to be pleasing on the eye and try to score goals and I think we have that in our framework, whether from a set-play or from open play we do have a threat.

"Momentum is a huge thing in the Championship and if you can gather that momentum and win games back-to-back then of course it helps you elevate yourself up the league and move to where you want to be. But it isn't easy because the quality is there for all to see.

"What is important now is that we build on the two wins and go and try and achieve three in a row against a good Sheffield Wednesday side."
