Anthony Stokes will get a run-out for the Under-23s in their Premier League 2 clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers this Monday night.
The Rovers striker hasn't featured for the first team since injuring his medial knee ligament in training during the international break at the beginning of the month.
But having returned to training last week, Stokes is now ready to step up his fitness at the Lancs FA, Leyland this evening.
"Stokes stayed behind at the weekend and trained," revealed manager Owen Coyle.
"He is going to play tonight because he wants some match time under his belt. So he'll play in the Premier League 2 game.
"It is full credit to him because he said he wanted to play in order to get ready to try and get in the first team."
Kick-off at the Lancs FA, Leyland is at 7.00pm. Rovers season ticket holders can see the game for free on production of their season ticket cards. General admission prices are £3 Adults and £1 for Concessions.
