Owen Coyle has called on the players to make the most their chance against Leeds United in this evening's EFL Cup tie.
The manager has revealed that he'll be making wholesale changes to his squad for tonight's Elland Road return due to players being cup-tied and also carrying knocks.
Coyle hopes that those handed their opportunity will put in the sort of display that will give the boss a nice type of selection problem for the weekend.
"The game is really important because it gives those players an opportunity to say I'm ready pick me," said Coyle.
"That is the problem that you want as a manager, you don't want to be picking a team that is all out of sorts, you want to be picking a team from 20 players who are all chomping at the bit and playing really well.
"So that is why it is a brilliant opportunity for anybody who gets that shirt to step into the team and stay in it. A number of them have been in and out of the team so I'm pretty sure they'll be wanting to show their quality.
"They'll want to come in and do well to have the opportunity to keep the jersey. If you don't play well enough to justify getting it again then that is really on them.
"So for our part it is an opportunity to go and win a tough cup-tie, give players a chance that need to play, and hopefully they take that chance and then get ready for another big game at the weekend against Derby."
