Rovers Ladies secured their place in the second round of the FA Women’s Premier League Cup on Sunday after an emphatic 19-0 victory over Rotherham United.
Ella Toone scored six goals, whilst Faye McCoy and Ainsley Strickland both claimed hat-tricks as Rovers went goal crazy at Bamber Bridge.
At their new home ground for the first time, the Ladies were quick out of the traps with three goals inside the first seven minutes. McCoy and Toone on the scoresheet early with Saffron Jordan's spectacular lob soon making it 3-0.
Two further goals Toone and McCoy quickly followed, before the pair both secured their hat-tricks by the half hour. Then two goals in a matter of seconds just before half-time ensured Rovers went in 9-0 up as Toone took her tally to five.
Strickland, on as an early substitute for Jordan, opened her account moments after the turnaround. She then quickly added two more goals to complete her hat-trick and make it 12-0 to Rovers.
After providing two assists, Danielle Whitham then got on the scoresheet herself, before Jess Holbrook made it 14-0 with a fine finish.
But despite Rovers being reduced to ten after Strickland saw red for an off the ball incident, Gemma Donnelly's side stayed in control, adding a further five goals in the closing stages.
Ella Toone grabbed her sixth of the afternoon, before Kayleigh McDonald, Natasha Fenton and a brace from Emma Rankin completed a satisfactory Sunday for Rovers' Ladies.
