Owen Coyle believe his new-look squad now provides much needed competition all over the park.
The Rovers boss was one of the more active managers during the summer transfer window, bringing in 12 players to the side.
As domestic football returns this weekend with the trip to face Queens Park Rangers tomorrow, Coyle feels the team are in a better position to start picking up the required points to allow them to climb the table.
"What we have done is we have now given ourselves competition for places and that can only be good moving forward," said the manager.
"If you look at the squad now there is no-one that is guaranteed to play whereas before they probably were which is not a healthy situation.
"So now the players know that they are going to have to perform at the right level to keep that spot because they know that there is someone else ready to step in.
"We've brought in some good young players in and the important thing now is to go into games and picking up the points to get up and running and moving up that league where we want to be.
"We understand the frustration and disappointment from everybody and I get that. But we'll meet that head on, pick them up and go and win games to move us up the league."
