It'll be great to go back

21 October 2016

Derrick Williams is looking forward to facing old friends when Rovers take on Bristol City this Saturday.

The full back joined Rovers from the Robins this summer after spending three years at the Ashton Gate club.

"I'm really looking forward to it, It will be good to see a few faces but more importantly try and get a good result," said Williams.

"I had a great three years there, I went there as a 20 year-old, made my league debut and had a great time.

"I wanted to play football and as soon as I heard Blackburn Rovers were interested I was like 'get me there now'. It is a massive club and I knew straight away that I wanted to play for this club."

The 23-year-old has been a model of consistency since moving to Ewood Park, but Williams knows there is plenty to his game that he can improve upon.

"I've still got a lot to improve on," added the Irishman. "I'm just enjoying playing at left back and I want to get as good as I can. I think I've a lot more to add to my game, like getting forward, so I'm just enjoying it.

"Defensively I think I've been solid enough. I've been happy how I've been defending. I think getting forward I can add a lot more, a lot more crosses and retain possession a bit better.

"But I think overall I'm happy that I'm consistent, but I always want to improve."

Supporters should note that tickets for the game go off sale at Ewood at 4pm today. With NO sales on the day.
