Damien Johnson was delighted to see his Rovers side kick off their Premier League Cup group with a comfortable win over Burnley on Friday afternoon.
First half goals from Joe Rankin-Costello and Lewis Mansell were enough for a 2-0 home victory at Ewood Park as Rovers controlled the match throughout.
The only disappointment was that Rovers didn't have more goals to show for their dominance, but the development squad coach was pleased with the way they performed and the chances they created.
"We played some terrific stuff and we are really delighted with the performance," said Johnson.
"You don't want to be too critical of them because we made good runs, and the through-balls were great, but their keeper is a good goalkeeper and he was on good form but overall we were delighted.
"At times we've had good performances and not got the results like at Fleetwood, and the other night at Wolves we had to grind out a win, but today off the ball and on the ball we were terrific and caused them a lot of problems.
"I thought everyone was outstanding."
Johnson's side are back in action this Tuesday night when they face Carlisle United in the Checkatrade Trophy at Brunton Park.
