Be at our best to pick up more points

21 October 2016

Owen Coyle knows it is vitally important that Rovers build on their two points earning performances with a third at Bristol City on Saturday.

Rovers go into the game at Ashton Gate off the back of a draw against Ipswich Town and a midweek victory over Nottingham Forest.

But Coyle knows it will count for nothing if they can't make it three unbeaten against a Robins side that have started the season strongly.

"This league is about momentum," said the manager. "It is about repeatedly picking up points.

"Bristol City have spent some money on and off the field so we know it will be a tough game.

"But we know that if we are at our best, whether we are at home or away, we can go and pick up points and that it the way it has got to be.

"We need to put in the same level of performance as we had at Derby, if we can do that then we are more than capable of going to Bristol and picking up points and that is what we have to do.

"They should be feeling good about themselves in respect of how hard they are working and we need to keep bringing that to every game."

The manager is anticipating a good footballing game between two sides with excellent attacking ability.

"They are a very technical team, they are pleasing on the eye and have some wonderful players," he added.

"Of course there is Tammy Abraham but Lee Tomlin is a real quality individual, so they have a number of threats.

"So I'm expecting a good footballing game, I think it is a game that will actually suit us in terms of going and passing and moving the ball. But, as always in the Championship, we are away from home, it is a tough venue, but we are looking forward to it and the players are excited to get out there and try and go and win another game."
