Owen Coyle believes this evening's Checkatrade Trophy match against Carlisle United is another perfect opportunity for the young Rovers to gain further experience.
The development squad impressed in their previous outing in the competition in a narrow 1-0 loss to Fleetwood, and now face the Cumbrians in their second group match.
The Rovers boss feels that the competition is an important one for those looking to break through to help them adjust to the rigours of first team football.
"It is an important tournament for us for our young players and their development," said Coyle.
"I've stressed before the importance of having that nucleus of that young group coming through because there'll be a number of them I think that will play for Blackburn Rovers in the years to come.
"So it is important that we don't have too many get in the way of their development because going to Carlisle, as they did at Fleetwood, is great opportunity for them.
"It is equivalent to league football which we crave for them all."
Tickets for tonight's match will be on sale at Brunton Park, priced at £10 Adults, £5 Concessions.
