Rovers' development squad are back on their travels this Friday night when they face Sunderland in their second Premier League Cup group match.

Damien Johnson's side lead the group after the first round of matches. Their comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley at Ewood Park at the end of September ensuring top spot in Group B, whilst the Black Cats opened their account with a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City.

The young Rovers go into the match looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back losses in the league, but come up against a Sunderland side that have started strongly in  Premier League 2 Division One.

The Wearsiders sit sixth in the top-flight after nine matches, with three wins, three draws and three defeats, but they haven't tasted success since defeating Everton in the middle of September.

With the first team in action at Aston Villa on Saturday, it will be a familiar squad that will travel to the north east. But they will be without Ramirez Howarth as the attacker has joined Bamber Bridge on a month-long youth loan.

Kick-off at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground is at 7.00pm. Updates will be available on the website and via twitter.
