Owen Coyle believes that Charlie Mulgrew will prove to be a shrewd addition to the team.
The Rovers manager brought the Scottish international to Ewood Park from Celtic in the summer and feels his leadership qualities and demanding nature will make him a valuable member of the squad.
Although Mulgrew's start in a Rovers shirt was hampered by a niggling calf injury, Coyle feels that with his versatility he'll more than prove his worth.
"I think he is a very talented player," the boss told Rovers PlayerHD.
"He is a leader, he demands it of other people and team-mates and these are great qualities to have.
"He is capable of playing in a number of positions, he can play in the centre of midfield, he can play centre-back and left back as well.
"He has a real composure on the ball, he can put his foot in and tackle, he can pass the ball and he is going to be a very good player for Blackburn Rovers over the years that we've signed him here for.
"With Derrick Williams injured, Charlie has stepped into that left back position and we thank him for that because it helps the team. Equally it helps Charlie then get up to match speed where we want him to be.
"So he's got a lot quality and that can only help the team as we continue to progress."
