Rovers' Academy signed off their season in style with a 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday at Brockhall.
Under-16 forward Danny Butterworth marked his first start at Under-18 level with a stunning first half hat-trick to cap a fine campaign for Billy Barr's youngsters.
Both sides were massively changed from when the two teams recently met in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup, but it was Rovers who quickly into their stride in the Lancashire sunshine.
Just 14 minutes in and Rovers were celebrating the opening goal of the game. An important interception from Alex Curran allowed Butterworth to claim possession, and the striker advanced into the area before emphatically firing into the back of the net.
Less than ten minutes later and the home side's lead was doubled. Patient build-up saw Butterworth find defender Matty Makinson on the overlap down the right, and his centre deflected back out to the young forward who took a touch before slamming home.
Both sides had further opportunities, Tre Pemberton heading straight at Chelsea keeper Nathan Baxter when well placed, whilst the visitors were denied when Reece James struck a post.
But a third goal for Rovers, and for Butterworth, came in added time at the end of the first half. Again Barr's side made progress down their right with Joel Steer finding his fellow forward who showed good composure before beating Baxter to claim his hat-trick.
A change of shape from Chelsea saw the visitors enjoy more of the ball in the second half, but Rovers were rarely troubled at the back.
The game became a feisty affair in the closing stages with players booked on both sides, Rovers seeing out the match to seal the win.
"From our point of view if you look at the whole 90 minutes then we are more than happy with it," said Barr.
"We are delighted for young Daniel, his goals were really well taken. That is probably the icing on the cake, an Under-16 scoring a hat-trick on the last day of the season."
