Blackburn Rovers Ladies have been awarded the highest tier possible from the Football Association for the new Regional Talent Club.
The Regional Talent Club replaces the old Centre of Excellence as part of The FA’s Elite Performance Unit, set up in 2014 to aid the development of elite female footballers and coaches.
Rovers are one of thirteen clubs to receive Tier 1 status, alongside several WSL clubs.
The changes mean that Rovers will now have four competing teams within the ages of 16 and under. The Under-16 and Under-14 teams will be competing against other Regional Talent Clubs and Charter Standard youth teams, while receiving a minimum of six hours practical training per week.
For the first time, the Under-12 and Under-10 teams will be competing in Charter Standard youth leagues, while receiving at least four hours practical training each week.
Trials for the Regional Talent Club are on-going throughout the month of June for all age groups for those who have booked via the Rovers website. The trials will take place on the 3G pitch at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, Sudell Road, Darwen, BB3 3HD.
