Rovers Ladies suffered their first league defeat in six months, as they went down 4-0 away to title-chasing Sporting Club Albion.
All the damage was done in the first half, as goals from Abigail Cottam (2), Paige Crossman and Kelly Darby left Rovers with a mountain to climb at the break.
Sporting stormed into a 3-0 lead inside 16 minutes, before having another disallowed for offside. However, the hosts did add a fourth on the half-hour mark.
Rovers improved after the interval, with Ainsley Strickland going close, but they were unable to find a way back into the game.
Manager Gemma Donnelly said: “We had a number of key players missing and it was obviously a disappointing first half, to concede four goals.
“Second half was a much better performance and had they done in the first half what they did in the second half then it would have been a much more even contest, but Sporting Club Albion could be worthy winners of this division, given that they’ve been more consistent and they were the better team on the day.”
ROVERS: Maher, Hope, Bickett, Kinvig, Cook, Fenton, Bennett (Montgomery 61), Holbrook, Strickland (O'Dea 70), Taylor, Foster.
