Paul Lambert praised the display of Tony Watt in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Birmingham City.
The forward bagged his first league goal in Rovers colours to set the home side on their way to a comfortable victory and a fourth league win on the trot at Ewood.
But whilst the Rovers boss was delighted with the young Scot, he knows there is plenty more to come from the loanee.
"It was a great goal and great body strength to turn him in the box," Lambert told Radio Rovers.
"Okay we are getting an hour out of him at this moment in time but it was a terrific goal from him.
"He needs to get fitter, I've always said that about him, he's got a talent, when you see him at certain times he does some wonderful things, but other times I think he switches off.
"But I think he's a wonderful football player, he's a maverick-type player is Tony, you are never quite sure at certain times what you'll get, he does get your backside off your seat at times and he can makes things happen.
"He's a good kid and I'm delighted for him to get his first league goal."
