Shane Duffy had an evening to remember as the Republic of Ireland defeated Switzerland 1-0 in Dublin.
The Rovers defender made his home debut in an Ireland shirt, laid on the assist for the only goal of the game, and picked up the man-of-the-match award at the Aviva Stadium.
Handed a start in what was only his second cap, Duffy headed on Robbie Brady's second minute corner to where Ciaran Clark nodded in from close-range.
Ireland had to defend well for long periods afterward, but with Duffy imperious at the back they saw out the match to defeat their fellow Euro 2016 qualifiers.
Ireland are back in action in Dublin this Tuesday when the face Slovakia.
In Kingston, Jamaica, Lee Williamson played just over an hour for the Reggae Boyz as they drew 1-1 with group leaders Costa Rica.
The Rovers midfielder started the match at Independence Park as Jevaughn Watson gave the hosts a 16th minute lead, but a second half goal from Johnny Acosta, saw Costa Rica equalise.
The result sees Costa Rica consolidate their position at the top of Group B, the two teams meet again on Tuesday night in San Jose.
