Paul Lambert believes Rovers can approach this evening's match against Birmingham full of confidence with the way they have been playing in recent weeks.

Despite the disappointment of Saturday's defeat, tonight's game at Ewood Park gives Rovers the chance to get straight back to winning ways.

The Rovers boss has been pleased with the displays that the team have been putting and knows that if they continue to perform then the points will follow.

"We know we are playing very, very well," said Lambert.

"We look strong, we look enthusiastic for the game, all the things that I think we have shown in the last couple of months that is the way to play the game.

"We went to Middlesbrough and we should have won up there, we should have beaten Derby, we were the better team against them, we obviously beat Middlesbrough and then on Saturday we definitely deserved not to get beat.

"When you do that and you are only coming away with four points then it is disappointing. But the level of performances, I think you ask those teams then we've certainly given them a game."

Despite not picking up as many points as performances have merited, the manager still feels that the team is heading in the right direction.

Victory this evening would be a fourth consecutive home triumph with Lambert believing they carry much more of a threat offensively.

"If we keep playing that way then you are certainly going to win more than not," he added.

"We look a threat every time we go forward and look a really good side, so I think that if you have that belief that go to every ground and do that then it can only serve us well.

"So at the minute we are in a good place as in the way we are playing, we would like more points obviously, but we are in a good place."
