Adam Henley and Darragh Lenihan both saw action for their respective countries on Monday evening.
Henley earned his second cap for Wales as a second half substitute in Kiev as the Ukraine won the international friendly 1-0.
An Andriy Yarmolenko goal just before the half hour proved to be the difference between the two sides as Chris Coleman's Wales tasted defeat.
Henley came on for fellow full back Neil Taylor on 72 minutes for his second appearance for his national side.
Also on the losing side yesterday evening were the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.
Darragh Lenihan captained the Irish once more but they went down 3-1 away to Slovenia.
Luka Krajnc opened the scoring for the hosts on the quarter hour before a 55th minute penalty from Gregor Bajde doubled Slovenia's advantage.
Callum O'Dowda made it 2-1, but the home side quickly restored their two-goal advantage through Miha Zajc to secure the points.
Defeat for the Irish leaves them seven points behind group leaders Italy with three games to go. Only the top side in the group are guaranteed to go through to the play-off stage.
