Barr: Disappointed but delighted

Rovers' Under-18s coach Billy Barr had mixed emotions after his side were defeated 1-0 by Chelsea in the 1st leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final at Ewood Park.

The visitors were the better side in the opening 45, deservedly taking the lead on 26 minutes thanks to Fikayo Tomori's glancing header.

However the young Rovers were a credit to the club in the second half with a resolute display. But they just couldn't get the equaliser their performance merited to leave Barr frustrated yet pleased with the way they played.

"I was disappointed with the first half," Barr told Rovers PlayerHD.

"We started okay but Chelsea got a foothold in the game and forced us to change our shape.

"At half-time we had a few things to say to them but they have come out and reacted to it positively.

"The second half was more like it, so I'm disappointed but delighted in different ways with a 1-0. We are still in the tie and we can take it down there and give it a right good go.

"We can look forward to the next three weeks before we go there. We'll work on it, come up with a game plan and hopefully come back with a positive result."

Fans who want to cheer on the young Rovers in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Apri 8th can purchase tickets from the Roverstore at Ewood Park or via our call centre on 01254 372000.
