Tommy Spurr is relishing being back in action this weekend with a Lancashire derby to whet the appetite when Rovers take on Preston North End.

The international break came at a good time for the squad after a heavy schedule of fixtures in February and March, but the defender excited about the lunchtime clash at Ewood Park.

With eight games remaining Spurr knows it is imperative that Rovers end the season in good form, starting on Saturday.

"It is a good one to come back into feeling refreshed, a local derby," said the full back.

"It is a big game and I'm sure there'll be a big crowd at Ewood so I'll be looking forward to it.

"We want to be right at it and to try and finish the season as strong as we can.

"We can still creep into that top half and we'll look to try and win as many games as we can. The last couple of weeks we have shown we can beat anyone and play well against anyone so we've no-one to fear."

Tickets for Saturday's match against Preston are currently on sale to Rovers database members with a history of purchasing match tickets.
