Rovers will face Spanish opposition at Ewood Park ahead of the big Championship kick-off, after the club confirmed its final pre-season friendly.

Segunda Division side Girona FC will visit Ewood on Saturday July 30th, kick-off 3pm.

The Catalan club finished fourth in the Spanish second division last season and narrowly missed out on promotion to La Liga, losing 3-1 on aggregate to Osasuna in the play-off final earlier this month.

The home friendly completes Rovers’ summer schedule, which gets underway in Austria with a game against Bundesliga side SV Ried on Saturday July 9th, kick-off 6pm local time.

Following Rovers’ return to the UK, Owen Coyle’s side will take part in a three-team tournament at Morecambe's Globe Arena on Saturday July 16th, with hour-long matches against League One side Bury (kick-off 1pm) and the League Two hosts (kick-off 2.30pm).

On Tuesday July 19th, Rovers face Keith Hill’s Rochdale at Spotland (kick-off 7.45pm), before taking on Gary Bowyer’s Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday July 23rd (kick-off 3pm).

Coyle’s men then travel to Mansfield Town on Tuesday July 26th (kick-off 7.30pm), before playing two games in 24 hours the weekend before the new season – Girona FC at Ewood on Saturday July 30th (kick-off 3pm) and Notts County at Meadow Lane on Sunday July 31st (kick-off 3pm).

Rovers will get the 2016-17 Championship season underway at home to Norwich City on Saturday August 6th, kick-off 3pm.
