Owen Coyle was delighted to see Rovers duo Corry Evans and Shane Duffy advance to the last 16 of Euro 2016.
Midfielder Evans has started the last two games for Northern Ireland, who finished third in Group C to book a mouth-watering match with fellow home nation Wales.
Whilst defender Duffy grasped his opportunity to impress in the Republic of Ireland’s final group game against Italy, producing a magnificent performance as Martin O’Neill’s men recorded a famous 1-0 victory to secure a showdown with hosts France.
Coyle, a former Republic of Ireland international himself, said: “Absolutely brilliant. I sent Shane a message because he played very well in the game (against Italy) and Corry worked his socks off the other day, as he has done in the last couple of games.
“So I’m absolutely delighted for both of them. To go to a tournament of that magnitude and progress, because let’s be honest, everyone looked at the groups and thought neither of the two of them would get through, and the way that they’ve done it is absolutely brilliant
“You just want them to stay healthy and to go and enjoy the tournament.”
