Manager Owen Coyle will look to arrest Rovers’ disappointing run in the League Cup when the club takes on Mansfield Town in the opening week of the season.
Rovers were drawn against the Stags in the first round of the newly-named EFL Cup on Wednesday and will visit the One Call Stadium during the week commencing August 8th.
Rovers have failed to progress past the first round stage in each of the last three seasons and Coyle will look to put that right.
“I think with any cup competition, everyone would prefer to be at home, but it is what it is,” said the new Rovers boss.
“They are a good side who finished mid-table last year and they'll be looking for an exciting season, so it will be a tough game when it comes about and we'll treat it with the upmost respect.
“I've always liked the cup competitions at any of the clubs I've been at and every competition you enter into you want to go as far as you can and cup competitions provide the opportunity to do that, so we'll take it very seriously, as we always do.”
