A young Rovers side kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday.
Following a week at their regular summer 'boot camp' in Scotland, the Under-18s returned to Brockhall to claim victory over the Shrimps.
With the second year scholars involved with the Under-21s at Bamber Bridge, Billy Barr's side was made up of first years and Under-16s.
And that showed as the visitors went the closest in the first half when the crossbar was struck, and they followed that up by hitting the woodwork once more early in the second half.
But the home side grew into the game and took the lead on 50 minutes. A free-kick into the box was only blocked, and the follow-up was forced home.
The Shrimps saw an effort touched onto the crossbar as they looked to get back on level terms, but it was Rovers who grabbed the all-important second goal a minute from time from the penalty spot to claim the spoils.
