Rovers' Under-21s kicked off their pre-season programme with a comfortable 4-0 win over a hardworking Charnock Richard side at Mossie Park.
First half goals from Alex Curran and Connor Thomson, were added to by strikes from Dean Rittenberg and Tre Pemberton in the second as Damien Johnson's side ended worthy winners.
Featuring a mixture of Under-21 regulars, Academy players and trialists, Rovers started much the stronger of the two sides. Midfielder Joe Grayson going close just seven minutes in with a smart shot that flashed wide as he took advantage of a poor clearance.
However Rovers would be celebrating some 90 seconds later with a well worked goal.
Stefan Mols claimed possession in the centre of the park before sending the ball perfectly into the path of Academy colleague Alex Curran who controlled superbly before firing home.
Boosted by the early goal Rovers continued to dominate proceedings, but trialist keeper Josh Powell had to be alert at the other end to make two saves to keep the home side at bay just past the half hour.
Despite those opportunities for Charnock, Rovers ended the half as they had started with another fine move and goal.
On 42 the lively Pemberton fed the willing runner of Lewis Travis on the overlap and his deep cross picked out Thomson who cooly slotted home.
The hosts were forced to start the second half with makeshift keeper Joshua Norgate in goal due to an injury picked up by Gavin Bates, but with Rovers having replaced trialist Powell with Academy stopper Ben Ascroft, they allowed Powell to go in goal for Charnock.
But the stand-in keeper could do little about Rovers adding a third on 55 minutes when Rittenberg and Pemberton combined to good effect to work the ball into the area before Rittenberg applied the finishing touch.
It was almost 4-0 two minutes later when Rovers burst through once more but the impressive Grayson was denied by a smart save.
But just before the hour mark a fourth goal did arrive, and it was in no small part down to the forward prowess of defender Josh Askew who raced inside from the left flank before teeing up Pemberton to slide home.
Rovers changed their squad once more with 30 minutes to go, and whilst they continued to see more of the ball and create the better of the opportunities, neither goal was threatened in the closing stages to ensure the Blue and Whites ended the match 4-0 winners.
The Under-21s are back in action next Saturday at 3pm when they travel to take on Bamber Bridge at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
