Lynda Shepherd will lead Rovers Ladies out as captain for the 2016/2017 season.
Shepherd, entering her third season as a Rovers player since returning to the club in 2014, admits it will be an honour for her to take on the role as captain for the upcoming season.
"I was vice captain last season, Gemma offered me the opportunity to captain the team this year and I happily accepted," said the midfielder.
"It is an honour to be captain and hopefully I can set an example in the way I train and perform.
"I am very demanding of my team-mates, I have always been demanding with or without the armband because that's just how I am as a person. Hopefully that will reflect in our performances and results over the course of a season."
The 31-year old midfielder has previously played for Liverpool and Manchester City but states that Blackburn is truly where she has been happiest.
She added: "I have played at several different levels but Blackburn has always felt like home to me, it's where I've been happiest and it's where I've played my best football.
"Those who know me know much I love this club and I've always tried to do my best to bring success to Rovers."
