A healthy squad going into the weekend

Rovers boss Owen Coyle expects to fully utilise his squad over the final two pre-season friendlies this weekend.

Ewood Park plays host to Spanish side Girona on Saturday, before Rovers travel to Meadow Lane to take on Notts County on Sunday.

The manager will check on the usual bumps and bruises picked up over the week, but he hopes to put as many players through their paces as possible during the two games.

Speaking on Friday morning, Coyle said: "We've had one or two niggles which you expect in pre-season.

"We've obviously tried to make sure that we look after those players with the mindset that they can feature at the weekend against Girona. Then we have a game on Sunday against Notts County which a number of the young players and some of the seniors will take part in.

"We are getting all the squad the match time under their belt that they need for the start of the season proper.

"It is never going to be about eleven players, it is going to be about utilising the squad you have. The player that plays five games is as important as the guy who plays 46 because your strength is as a group. So it is important that we make sure that everybody has had the recognised time, the match sharpness, and the durability for the course of the season."

One of those players that hasn't featured for the last couple of weeks is Craig Conway. But Coyle is confident that the midfielder will play some part this weekend.

"Craig Conway has missed out in the last couple of weeks but he is back now and will feature at the weekend," he added.

"So that is a timely boost because he is a wonderful player and an outstanding man who loves being at Blackburn Rovers - those types of players are invaluable to us.

"So hopefully we are getting a healthy squad going into the weekend. But if there are one or two with little knocks then we'll be wary of that and won't take any risks if we don't have to in the build-up to Norwich City the following week."

Tickets for the Girona match will be on sale up until the 3pm kick-off. Adults can see the game for £12, Seniors aged 65 and over for £5, 18-21 year-olds £5, and Juniors aged 17 and under for just £2.

Supporters should note that the club will only be selling tickets in the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End Lower and the Jack Walker Stand (upper and lower tiers) for this fixture. Blues Bar will be open from 12 noon, with turnstiles open from 2.00pm.

Tickets for the 3.00pm kick-off are available at the Roverstore at Ewood Park, via the call centre on 01254 372000, or book online at and collect on the day.

Fans travelling to Meadow Lane on Sunday can pay on the day. It is cash only on the turnstiles.

Prices for Notts County are Adults £12, Seniors (60 years of age and above) £7, Young Adults (18 to 21 years of age) £7, and Juniors (Under 18) £4.
