Owen Coyle was delighted with the way his side performed as they began their pre-season match programme with a 1-0 win over SV Ried on Saturday evening.
A second half goal from summer signing Danny Graham secured the spoils for Rovers in a hard-working match in the Austrian heat.
The Rovers boss was pleased with the workout his side were given, and felt that there were plenty of positives to take from the friendly and a fitting way to end their week away from home.
"As you know results in pre-season are not the be all and end all," said the manager after the match.
"The important thing is I always equate it to a ladder and each time we are moving up the rungs of the ladder to try and get ready for a tough Championship season.
"But the way they went about it today was a credit to themselves. They've worked hard all week, three sessions a day, so I thought it was a fitting end to the working week as that was a good side, a side that start their season next week.
"So we knew we were going to be severely tested, we managed to use 22 players including a host of Academy lads on the field as well, so there was a lot of positives today.
"I was just delighted, I thought they all went about it, they showed a great attitude which I've seen from day one and we've just got to build on that.
"Nothing comes easy, it will take hard work, but the way everyone applied themselves, I was delighted."
Rovers will travel back to the UK this Sunday and spend the week at Brockhall before facing both Bury and Morecambe in next Saturday's three-team tournament at the Globe Arena.
