Paul Lambert has warned his players that they have to approach Saturday's cup tie at Newport with the right mentally.
Rovers travel to Rodney Parade in what will be the first meeting between the two sides, looking to book their place in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
But against a Newport side in the third round of the competition for first time in 30 years, the boss knows if they aren't prepared then they'll come unstuck.
"Any cup tie is a dangerous game," admitted Lambert. "It is a dangerous game if you don't treat it right which is why I will go as strong as I can.
"I also know that we have to be mentally right for it. If we are mentally right then it doesn't matter what state the pitch is in, it is the same for them. You adapt to it and you play the conditions accordingly and that is what we will try and do.
"So we'll have to go down there, handle the surroundings, handle the occasion, and if we do that and stick to our game plan then hopefully we'll win.
"We've got to earn the right, but I certainly won't be treating it lightly."
