Rovers to face Liverpool or West Ham

31 January 2016

Ewood Park will play host to Premier League opposition in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The reward for Paul Lambert's side for their 3-0 win over Oxford United on Saturday is a home tie against either Liverpool or West Ham United.

Liverpool and West Ham played out a goalless draw at Anfield yesterday and will now face each other at the Boleyn Ground for the right to play Rovers in the last 16 of the competition.

Rovers met Liverpool in last season's quarter-finals, taking the Reds to an Ewood Park replay following a 0-0 draw on Merseyside, but narrowly went down 1-0.

You have to go back a little further for the last time Rovers faced West Ham at Ewood in the FA Cup.

In 1998 Rovers took the Hammers back to Lancashire following a 2-2 draw at Upton Park, only to lose the replay 5-4 on penalties after the tie ended 1-1.

The fifth round draw in full:

Chelsea v Manchester City
Reading v West Bromwich Albion or Peterborough United
Watford v Leeds United
Shrewsbury Town v Manchester United
Blackburn Rovers v Liverpool or West Ham United
Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace
Arsenal v Hull City
AFC Bournemouth v Everton

Ties will be played over the weekend of 19 – 22 February 2016.
