Manager Paul Lambert was delighted to be drawn at home to Premier League opposition in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Rovers will welcome either Liverpool or West Ham United to Ewood Park next month after knocking out Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.
The two top-flight teams, who are both chasing a European finish in the Premier League, will face each other in a replay at Upton Park after yesterday’s tie at Anfield ended goalless.
“It’s a brilliant draw and a massive game whoever we get,” said the Rovers boss.
“We know that we are getting a Premier League team coming to Ewood Park and hopefully we’ll have a full house.
“Yesterday’s result at Oxford provided us with the opportunity to get a game of such stature, and it’s great financially and for the fans.”
The match at Ewood will be played over the weekend of 19 – 22 February. Confirmation of the date and ticketing arrangements will be announced in due course.
