Tommy Spurr was delighted to be back in the starting line-up for the midweek match against QPR – the same team his last start came against in September.
The left-back has had to bide his time to get an opportunity to show new boss Paul Lambert what he can do, so Spurr was pleased to put in a man-of-the-match performance.
"I was buzzing when the gaffer named the team, because I got my chance to stake a claim to play more games," he said.
"Ever since the gaffer came in, the intensity of training has gone up, so I've been working really hard everyday.
"Not having a game at the end of the week has been frustrating, but I've just kept my head down, kept working hard and I finally got a chance. It was nice to be out there again.
"Obviously, the more games I play, the sharper I will get and hopefully I can get back to something what I was like in my first year here, but I will only get there by playing games.
"I'll keep working hard in training everyday to try and give the gaffer a bit of a problem in terms of who he wants to pick and to force my way into the team. That's healthy for the team if people are fighting for positions."
Rovers are back at Ewood Park this Saturday when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
Tickets for the match will be on sale up to the 3.00pm kick-off with prices from £18 for Adults, £12 Seniors, £12 18-21-year-olds and from just £7 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
