Boss hopeful over duo

28 January 2016

Rovers boss Paul Lambert is hopeful that Ben Marshall and Jason Steele will be fit to face Oxford United in this Saturday's Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie.

Marshall missed last weekend's draw with Charlton Athletic with a heel injury that required stitches, whilst Steele sustained a heavy blow to the back during the match at the Valley.

Both players trained on Thursday morning and provided there is no reaction, the boss will include them in the squad to travel to the Kassam Stadium.

"Ben trained this morning so hopefully there is no reaction," said Lambert.

"It was a nasty one he got, a real nasty injury, but he trained this morning so hopefully he is going to be okay.

"Jason hopefully will be okay, he did a little bit this morning but tomorrow he'll hopefully join in fully.

"Simon Eastwood is back in amongst it after a calf injury."

Jason Lowe and Nathan Delfouneso are still out with foot and knee injuries respectively, whilst Danny Graham and Lee Williamson are still absent.

"Danny is still struggling," added the manager. "Lee is doing alright with his calf but still not ready for this one. Everybody else seems alright."

Chris Brown serves the second of a three-match suspension following his sending off at Newport, whilst Danny Graham is cup-tied having played in the last round for Sunderland.

Simeon Jackson is now eligible to play having not been signed in time for the original third round date.
