Paul Lambert has called on his side to be up for the battle when Rovers take on Newport County in tonight's Emirates FA Cup 3rd round tie.

After the postponement of the match nine days ago, last year's quarter-finalists return to Rodney Parade this evening for the re-arranged tie.

Having tasted defeat against Brighton on Saturday the manager knows it is important that the team show a reaction, and avoid an uncomfortable night against the League Two side.

"Thankfully there is the Newport game so we can try and get the Brighton result out of our system," said Lambert.

"It is a cup tie, we'll go down there and it will be up and at 'em type of football. We know what is coming.

"We'll go down there and be ready for the battle. If you are ready for the battle then you'll go through.

"If we lack any sort of will to win then we'll be in for a long night.

"It is important to get win, we have to get a win somewhere. We have to start quickly to get wins under our belts."

Kick-off at Rodney Parade is at 7.15pm, Rovers PlayerHD subscribers can listen to full match commentary from 6.45pm.
