Rovers' Under-18s will face Luton Town in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup after the Hatters defeated Preston North End on Wednesday night.
On a dramatic eventing at Deepdale, Luton took the lead early on, but Preston levelled on 89 minutes to take the game to extra-time.
North End then had the chance to win the match at the end of extra-time but missed a 119th minute penalty.
That meant the tie had to be decided by spot kicks with the Bedfordshire club prevailing 5-3 to earn a match with Rovers in the last eight of the competition.
The tie will be played at Ewood Park with the date to be confirmed in due course.
