Nice to be going back

Jason Steele is relishing the prospect of facing his former club for the first time this Saturday.

The Rovers goalkeeper came through the ranks at Middlesbrough, making over 140 appearances, before making the move to Ewood Park.

Steele was ineligible to play Boro when the two sides faced each other last season, as he was only initially on loan at Rovers from the Teesside club at the time, so he is looking forward to playing at the Riverside.

"It is nice to be going back to where I started," said the stopper.

"It is the first time I'll have been back and I'm looking forward to it. But I'll just treat it as any other normal game."

Steele turned his loan deal with Rovers into a permanent one last January, and a year on the 25-year-old is fully settled and eager to build on some solid defensive displays this season.

"We are all settled now, I've got a young family, we are happy and I'm enjoying my football," added Steele.

"Hopefully we can get a positive result on Saturday like we have done in the last few weeks and kick on.

"I think from a personal level we've got one of the best defensive records in the league and I think that is what I would look at being a goalkeeper.

"Obviously records and stats mean nothing if you aren't winning games and we haven't won enough over the past six or seven league games and we've got to turn that around.

"A lot of players have come in and hopefully they can add to what we already have and we can build on what the manager is trying to do.

"Hopefully the last few games will be a bit of a turning point for us."

Supporters who haven't yet purchased tickets for Saturday's match against Middlesbrough can do so on the day at the Riverside Stadium.

Some 500 tickets have so far been sold for, with tickets going off sale at Ewood at 4pm this Friday.

After that tickets will be available - cash only - from the South Stand ticket office adjacent to the away turnstiles at the Riverside from 1.30pm on matchday.

Ticket prices are £32 for Adults, £24 for over 65s and £17 for Under-18s. Call the ticket office for further information on 01254 372000.
