Paul Lambert was full of praise of the debut display of Jordi Gomez.

Signed on loan from Sunderland at the end of the January transfer window, the Spaniard marked his first outing in blue and white with a stunning goal and an impressive performance as Rovers drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough.

The Rovers boss was delighted with the way Gomez played and felt that his quality shone through.

"His goal was deserved for his performance because I thought he was outstanding," said Lambert.

"You can tell he has that little bit extra, there's that quality there.

"He is a top player, he makes the game look easy which all top players do.

"He's an unassuming character, he doesn't say much, but his performance today was outstanding.

"We are fortunate to have him and if he keeps performing like that then we've got a terrific signing."

Gomez is expected to make his home debut this Saturday when Rovers take on Hull City at Ewood Park.

Tickets are on open sale up until the 3.00pm kick-off, priced from £22 for Adults, from £14 Seniors and 18-21yrs and from £9 Juniors aged 17 and under.
