A small piece of Blackburn Rovers history will be made on Saturday when the club plays its first ever walking football fixture.
Fleetwood Town provide the opposition at the Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre at 11.15am as a curtain raiser to the first team clash with MK Dons later in the day.
Spectators are welcome to attend the match at no charge, with doors open from 11am for a 20 minutes each way six-a-side fixture.
The rules are simple - players have to be over 50-years-old and anything that vaguely resembles a jog or a run results in a free kick to the opposition! Other than that, it's a hybrid between usual 11-a-side and 5-a-side football rules.
Anybody who would like to put themselves into contention for future Blackburn Rovers walking football fixtures are invited to attend weekly training as part of the Sport England-funded 'Motivate!' campaign from Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.
The Friday night sessions run from 6pm-7pm and consist of 30 minutes of normal small-sided games and 30 minutes at walking pace, with the first five weeks being free of charge and then just £2 per week thereafter.
