Excellent striking additions - Steele

6 February 2016

Jason Steele believes Rovers have made some quality additions to their forward line in the January transfer window.

Paul Lambert made six signings during a busy month, with the keeper impressed with the arrivals of attackers Danny Graham, Simeon Jackson and Tony Watt.

Steele saw a glimpse of their qualities in the 3-0 win over Oxford United on Saturday, and is excited about what can bring to the squad.

"They are all excellent strikers," said the Rovers stopper.

"You look at Danny and wherever he has been in his carrer, probably barring Sunderland where he maybe didn't get the chance he deserved, I think he's scored goals.

"I know Danny really well personally, I obviously grew up with him at Middlesbrough and we are good mates so I am always going to say that about him.

"I never used to like playing against him when he was at Watford. He works hard and fashions his own chances and I'm sure once he gets one he'll go on a run and no-one will stop him.

"Simeon came in, trained, and played against Oxford and I thought he was absolutely brilliant.

"He lead the line ever so well and he allowed Tony to get on the ball.

"Tony is Tony, every time I've played against him this season - three times now - he's done my head in. You come off the pitch and you think 'yes he's a player', straight away you can tell that.

"Sometimes you come off the pitch and players aren't as good as you think they are, but him, every time I've come off the pitch I've said he's a player, you can just tell.

"So hopefully he can give us something that we've been missing."
