A healthier place to win games

Boss Paul Lambert believes Rovers are in a confident mood ahead of the match against Hull City this afternoon.

After a month of games on the road, Rovers return to Ewood Park looking for a positive result against a Hull side riding high at the top of the Championship.

The Rovers boss is expecting another competitive fixture, similar to the one at Middlesbrough last weekend, but hopes on this occasion they can claim all three points.

"The beauty of it is we are going into this game on Saturday playing well," said Lambert.

"But we know it will be another tough game, Hull are up there on merit, same as what Middlesbrough were. So that indicates how difficult a game it is going to be.

"They are a very good side, they've kept a lot of Premier League players from last year and you expect them to be round about it when teams go up or get in the play-offs.

"But we are at home and we are confident going into this one."

The manager feels that with the signings he has made this January that it has made the squad a much stronger outfit.

Rovers added six players during a busy month of transfer activity, with Lambert pleased with the options he has brought in.

"But we are in a lot healthier place to win games now," he added. "The type of player we've got now, whatever front ones I pick there's a definite threat there.

"So we go into the game with a lot more optimism knowing we can definitely compete.

"But we don't just want to compete for one game, it is over 46 games that you've got to be consistant. That is what we have to get to."
