A few nice headaches

Paul Lambert has welcomed the selection headache ahead of Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough.

Rovers return to league action this weekend after a convincing FA Cup fourth round victory over Oxford United last time out.

Simeon Jackson and Elliott Ward were just two players to impress, whilst Tony Watt had a debut to remember, scoring and playing a big part in the opening goal at the Kassam Stadium.

Since the Oxford tie, Lambert has brought in midfielder Jordi Gomez to spice up the competition for places in midfield, and with fellow Sunderland loanee Danny Graham also available once more after being cup-tied, the Rovers boss admits he is relishing the options he has.
"I have a few nice headaches," he said. "I'd rather have that than what we've had in previous weeks, we need everybody to go in the same direction now.

"We've made changes at times and made decisions, but you have to do that, it's the nature of the game, we'll now go to Middlesbrough in a much better place than what we were a few weeks ago."

Against Oxford, both Ward and Jackson made their first starts for the club, having both previously played under Lambert at Norwich City.

The Rovers boss added: "Wardy is very experienced and he's a terrific reader of the game and a terrific passer of the ball.

"He sees danger and gives you that composure at the back, I knew exactly what I would get from him.

"Simeon Jackson was unplayable against Oxford I thought, absolutely fantastic.

"It was his first start and a terrific performance.

"I've worked with him before at Norwich so I knew what he could do and I thought on the day he was fantastic for us"
